How It Works

Percentage Calculator applies a percentage to a base amount — for discounts, tax, tips, VAT, or markup depending on the inputs you provide.

Percent means “per hundred,” so 8% of $100 is $8. When adding tax or tip, the percentage is applied to the pre-adjustment subtotal unless stated otherwise.

Rounding rules at the register or on invoices can produce penny differences from a pure formula result.

Result = Base × (Rate ÷ 100) or Final = Base ± (Base × Rate ÷ 100)
